Film series: New Visions, New Voices
This annual series amplifies the work of emerging filmmakers by showcasing some of the most exciting directorial debuts, or first features, from the past year.
Featuring a variety of genres and subjects ranging from a Ukrainian war film to a Thai political satire, New Visions, New Voices aims to foreground innovative approaches to storytelling, celebrate creative risk-taking, and introduce some of the most exciting new voices in the film industry. Modeled on New Directors/New Films at MoMA and Film at Lincoln Center, the series will include ten debut features, presented throughout the spring semester.
This semester, in collaboration with the Department of Performing and Media Arts, we are also pleased to welcome Cornell alums Jason Goldman ’03 and Greg Reese ’02 for a screening of Goldman’s debut documentary feature Rowdy Girl (2023), which tells the story of a former Texas cattle rancher who goes vegan and transforms her husband’s beef operation into a farmed animal sanctuary.
