Accessibility

Cornell Cinema is committed to accessibility for all visitors. The cinema is located in the historic Willard Straight Theatre on the lower level of Willard Straight Hall. An elevator is available to move from the fourth floor (Ho Plaza Level) to the first floor.

We have wheelchair and companion seating inside the theatre as well as a lift to move from the outer to the inner lobby. Patrons with mobility impairment are encouraged to use this lift as there are a number of stairs down to the inner lobby and the theatre entrance. The inner lobby also includes an accessible, gender-neutral washroom.

The Willard Straight Hall parking lot is located just outside the entrance to Cornell Cinema and has several spaces reserved for handicapped placards.

Accessible Film Technologies

Cornell Cinema also has assistive listening headsets and closed caption readers available at the Box Office. These devices can be used to amplify sound, to listen a descriptive audio track, or to access closed captions for English-language titles.

Not all films have descriptive audio or closed captioning available, but those that do will have this information noted on the individual film’s page within a week of its showdate. Please contact us at cinema@cornell.edu or 607-255-3522 to inquire about the accessibility features available for an upcoming film screening.

To access one of these devices, please contact a member of our student team when you arrive at the cinema. You will be asked to provide some form of identification to check out one of our devices.
