Film series: Orientation/Welcome Week
Cornell Cinema is thrilled to reopen its doors for in-person screenings in the beautiful Willard Straight Theatre this Fall. All new students and transfers get in for FREE from August 19 – 26 and ALL students get in free on Friday, August 26, courtesy of Welcome Weekend!
As in previous years, we’ll offer An Orientation to Cornell Cinema, a program that will feature lots of coming attractions trailers, the inside scoop on special events, information on how to become involved with the organization, and chances to win door prizes like t-shirts, movie posters and guest passes. We’ll even give away one of our All-Access Passes, which is good for admission to all regularly-priced screenings this academic year! That’s close to 150 films!
Please come and acquaint or reacquaint yourself with our special space and our eclectic offerings, including recent hits Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Turning Red, and David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future. Francis Ford Coppola’s classic paranoid thriller The Conversation screens this week in a brand-new 35mm film print, and Mira Nair’s Mississippi Masala, starring a hunky Denzel Washington, is ripe for rediscovery some 30 years later. And of course, let’s not forget The Batman!
Turning Red and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness are cosponsored with the Welcome Weekend Committee, and New Student Programs is the cosponsor of our entire August line-up.
Welcome Back!
