Oscar Nominated Shorts Highlight Week Ahead

It's our first full week of movies for the semester, so we hope you bought your All-Access Pass and are ready to use it!

We start tonight at 9pm with Billy Wilder's gender-swapped comedy SOME LIKE IT HOT! Tomorrow night, we present our final screening of the latest chapter in the greatest social experiment in documentary history, 63 UP

Our celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day begins on Wednesday with a screening of AQUARELA, one of the fifteen films shortlisted for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar. From the power of water to the splendor of nature, we screen FIVE SEASONS: THE GARDENS OF PIET OUDOLF, about legendary landscape architect Piet Oudolf, on Thursday! Andrew Campana (Asian Studies) introduces Hayao Miyazaki's CASTLE IN THE SKY, part of our Japanese Anime: 3 Classics series, this Thursday night.

And Friday night begins our Oscar-nominated Short films series, with OSCAR SHORTS: ANIMATION screening at 6:45pm and OSCAR SHORTS: LIVE ACTION screening at 9pm! Both programs screen again this weekend, and the OSCAR SHORTS: DOCUMENTARY screens next Tuesday. This is your chance to catch all of the short films nominated for Academy Awards, which will give you a leg up on your Oscar pool! Not only that, but if you correctly guess the winners, you can win some fabulous prizes from Cornell Cinema! Fill out a ballot at any of our Oscar Shorts programs and turn it in to our staff for a chance to win; correct picks get entered into a raffle for an All-Access Pass as well as free posters, t-shirts, and concessions!

And last but not least, Rian Johnson's incredible whodunit KNIVES OUT (pictured) screens this Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday in all its eat-the-rich glory! It's rare to find a film these days that is so deeply satisfying to watch. We're certainly looking forward to seeing it a second (or third!) time.

Hot Tip:
Did you know you can skip the Box Office line?? It's true! And you don't need our All-Access Pass to do it (but hey, free movies for one low price ain't a bad thing either!)—we offer advance tickets online at CornellCinemaTickets.com for the exact same price as in person, no fees! If you plan on coming to one of our screenings, buy a ticket online, and either print out your confirmation or put it on your phone. Then just walk straight to our usher and they'll scan your ticket!  Easy.
