Film series: Worth a Watch

Though we would argue that all films at Cornell Cinema are worth watching, this series aims to showcase some of the most critically acclaimed recent releases, focusing primarily on international features, independent films, and recent film festival hits.

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour screens on Sunday, September 14, and Friday, September 19. This year’s CatVideoFest will take place on Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5, with a portion of ticket proceeds benefiting the SPCA of Tompkins County. Finally, our annual Sage Chapel screening on Friday, October 24 will feature the Austin-based Invincible Czars performing an original, experimental rock score for The Phantom of the Opera (1925), which celebrates its centenary this year.

Other highlights this fall include the Ithaca premieres of Andrea Arnold’s Bird, Sarah Friedland’s Familiar Touch, and Sierra Falconer’ Sundance hit Sunfish (& Other Stories from Green Lake)

Additional films will be added throughout the semester!
