Welcome back (almost)!
In just one week, Cornell Cinema reopens our virtual doors for our Spring season! Check out our full lineup now.
Almost everything is available for free with RSVP. And in case you forgot how we’re handling this or if you’re new to our Virtual Cinema scheme, you can find all of your questions answered in our handy FAQ. In short, we open reservations one week in advance of when a film “opens,” at which point you fill out our RSVP form. After that, we’ll email you a screening link and any discount codes necessary to make the film free for you. Be advised: we’ve got a limited supply of tickets (typically between 75 and 150), so it's first come, first served!
We are pleased to announce that reservations open Friday January 29 for our first week’s film slate!
Up first is Chungking Express (pictured), the film that made Wong Kar Wai an international sensation. It screens as part of the World of Wong Kar Wai, a semester-long retrospective of his early films—all recently restored by the master himself in collaboration with the Criterion Collection and L’Immagine Ritrovata. We hope you join us on this long look back through the works of a titan of Asian cinema.
We were set to screen The 21st Animation Show of Shows last Spring, before this whole pandemic scuttled everyone’s plans, and this annual animation showcase had to go into hibernation. Lucky for us, however, we’re hosting the ~*virtual premiere*~ of this ever-popular animation program! Though this is a pay-per-view title, Cornell Cinema viewers get a discount. Normally a $12 ticket, if you RSVP with us, we’ll send out a discount code which will knock the price down to $10! Bonus: when you use that code, half the money spent will come back to Cornell Cinema to help fund the rest of our season.
We'll see you in a week! Stay warm!
