AVOID LINES AT THE BOX OFFICE - See our All Access Pass purchasing tips.
Hot Tip: Did you know you can skip the line at the Box Office?? It's true! And you don't need our All-Access Pass to do it (but hey, free movies for one low price ain't a bad thing either!)—we offer advance tickets online at CornellCinemaTickets.com for the exact same price as in person, no fees! If you plan on coming to one of our screenings, buy a ticket online, and either print out your confirmation or put it on your phone. Then just walk straight to our usher and they'll scan your ticket! Easy.
You won't need a ticket for either of our first two shows this week, however, because they're both FREE! Tonight at 4:45pm is REASON, a chronicling of India's current slide away from a secular democracy into a religious fundamentalist state, featuring a Q&A w/ acclaimed documentary filmmaker Anand Patwardhan in person. It's a long film, but don't worry—there will be an intermission with free food courtesy of the South Asia Program, sponsor of the event.
Tomorrow night we team up with the Dept of Music to screen THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME for FREE in Sage Chapel with live musical accompaniment by Dennis James on the magnificent Aoelian-Skinner organ. The chilling 1923 silent film classic, featuring a stunning performance by Lon Chaney as Quasimodo, will perfectly set the tone for Halloween.
Come Sunday, you can watch all seven hours of Sergei Bondarchuk's magnificently opulent WAR AND PEACE (pictured)! With an unlimited budget, featuring authentic props and costumes borrowed from Russia's great museums, and thousands of extras from the Soviet army, this film is unlike any movie either before or since! As Roger Ebert once said, "You are never, ever, going to see anything to equal it." And sure, seven hours seems like a lot, but let's be honest: we've all binged seven hours on Netflix before. No one's judging you if you show up in your comfy clothes! The whole thing kicks off at 1:45pm, and yes, there will be breaks, including a longer one for dinner.
And our Francophone film series continues this week with the Moroccan foodie film TAZZEKA and the stunning animation about life under the Khmer Rouge, FUNAN.
We also launch our long-running IthaKid series on Saturday afternoon with the Laika stop-motion animation MISSING LINK!
And last but not least, Gurinder Chadha, the director behind BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM, brings us the Bruce Springsteen-soundtracked BLINDED BY THE LIGHT!
