Cornell Cinema Reopens Aug 24 w/COVID Restrictions in Place

After nearly a year-and-a-half since our last screening, Cornell Cinema is on the verge of reopening! Things will be a little different around here, as we are following all of Cornell’s COVID guidance for events on campus. Right now, that means masks must be worn at all times, no eating or drinking in the theatre (our concessions stand will be closed until further notice), and we will be open only to the Cornell community through at least late September as we await further guidance from the University.

The films, however, continue to be of the same high-caliber you’ve come to expect from Cornell Cinema. We’re showing a ton of great stuff all semester, so we’re reintroducing our All-Access Pass, available for purchase now! It’s an exceptionally good deal, starting at $10 for Graduate and Professional Students. Once you buy your Pass, you can reserve tickets for all of our regularly-priced film screenings! Please note: the All-Access Pass is digital-only now, and sales must be done online; we cannot sell Passes at the Box Office.

And speaking of the Box Office, while we love seeing each and every one of your smiling faces at our window, in the spirit of preventing lines and crowding, we highly suggest you purchase tickets in advance online. We will still be selling individual tickets at the door, but you’ll get to skip the line and reduce congestion if you buy your ticket in advance.

We reopen on August 24 with a week of FREE movies, open to just Cornell students. Starting September 1, we’ll shift to paid admission and welcome Cornell staff, faculty & retirees in addition to Cornell students. We’re hopeful that we can welcome back Ithaca community members sometime late September or early October, but there is unfortunately no set date at this time. Community members can still buy an All-Access Pass now, and it’ll be ready to use whenever we can welcome y'all back! Purchasing the Pass helps support our operating costs, so while we have no guarantee for when we can welcome back the outside community, you can still support us and our mission with the purchase of the Pass! In the meantime, Ithaca, please brave the construction and visit our friends at Cinemapolis!
