“The Virtual Cinema was INCREDIBLE. It was a lifesaver during quarantine, the films were great (and even ones I didn't love were still worth watching—that's part of the whole experience), and I felt better connected to the Cornell community. I actually cannot say enough good things about the program or the initiative. Please, please, please keep up the great work. And THANK YOU.”
This was just one of the heartfelt responses to Cornell Cinema’s virtual cinema program last Fall, a response we were super pleased to receive, along with so many others. Those who responded to our virtual cinema program survey provided other useful feedback, which we’ve tried to incorporate into our Spring season launching on Friday, February 5. But you don’t need to wait til then to see the amazing collection of films and thematic series we’ve put together to get you through the Spring semester.

One of our first offerings—The 21st Annual Animation Show of Shows—does have a charge, $9.99, but it’s well worth it, and better yet, a portion of the proceeds will come back to Cornell Cinema to help us cover the cost of all the free films we’re offering, so please partake.
We’ll start taking reservations for our first free film, Chungking Express, the kick-off to World of Wong Kar Wai, a seven-film series that is one of the highlights of the Spring, on Friday, January 29. If you’re already a WKW fan, you’ll be swooning with the opportunity to revisit these new restorations; if you’re not familiar with this Hong Kong auteur, absolutely check-out Chungking Express, as we know you’ll fall in love!
Welcome back!
