Cornell Cinema is planning a VIRTUAL CINEMA season for the Fall '20 semester, expected to run from September 1 through late November. The schedule will feature the same wide range of films it typically offers, just fewer in number and on a smaller screen. The line-up will include animation, classics, documentaries, short film festivals, world cinema & more! Some films will feature filmmaker Q & As via Zoom or faculty introductions.
Series will include Art Documentaries, Black Lives on Screen, and Pioneers of Queer Cinema. A classic cinema series, Restorations & Rediscoveries, will feature a number of recent digital restorations, including two early films made by Portuguese filmmaker Paulo Rocha. Cornell Cinema will also be participating in the annual Cine con Cultura Latinx American Film Festival in conjunction with Ithaca College and Cinemapolis.
The plan is to offer as many films as possible for free (albeit with limits on the number of views), while others may have a minimal pay-per-view. Schedule details are expected to be available on this website by mid-to-late August. Cornell Cinema highly recommends signing up to receive the weekly e-blast on their homepage to stay abreast of films, virtual events with speakers, and any last-minute additions to the schedule.
