Film series: Cine Con Cultura
Cine con Cultura is Ithaca’s annual Latin American Film Festival and takes place during Latinx Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15, 2026).
The festival celebrates innovative filmmaking practices across Latin America and is organized by Cultura Ithaca! and Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County in collaboration with Ithaca College, Cornell Cinema, and the Department of Romance Studies at Cornell. Screenings are presented at multiple sites across Ithaca, including Cinemapolis, Ithaca College, and Cornell Cinema.
This year’s line-up at Cornell Cinema was selected in collaboration with faculty from the Department of Romance Studies. It includes an expansive variety of genres and topics and films from Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Argentina. Highlights include Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel's Our Land (2026) and a special screening and discussion with visiting filmmaker Michelle Garza Cervera, director of Huesera: The Bone Woman (2023).
All events are free and open to the public, thanks to generous sponsorship by the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program, the Department of Romance Studies, and Cine Con Cultura.
