Cool Runnings

A bobsled team prepares for a run on a snowy track as a coach leans in to speak with them.

"Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s bobsled time!"

Loosely based on a true story, Cool Runnings is the comedic saga of four Jamaican athletes going to extremes to compete as bobsled racers at the Winter Olympics. After being disqualified from the Olympic Games, a Jamaican sprinter decides to start the first-ever Jamaican bobsled team. Despite never having seen snow, four aspiring bobsledders dream of competing in the Winter Olympics and enlist the help of a disgraced former Olympian as a coach to help them compete in the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

Starring Leon Robinson, Doug E. Doug, and John Candy in one of his best roles, Cool Runnings is an inspiring story of pursuing the impossible with pride, determination, and dignity. You can learn more about the true story of the 1988 Jamaican bobsleigh team on the Winter Olympics official website.
