Sisters

A blurry image of a terrified woman reaching for a birthday cake

Danielle Breton is a beautiful and mysterious fashion model who has been separated from her Siamese twin, Dominique. Hotshot reporter Grace Collier (Jennifer Salt), who lives nearby, calls the police after she witnesses Danielle violently murder a man in her apartment. But when the detective arrives at the scene and finds nothing amiss, Grace is forced to take matters into her own hands. Confident that Danielle and Dominique have something to hide, she becomes dangerously ensnared in the sisters’ insidious sibling bond.

A scary and stylish paean to female destructiveness, De Palma’s first foray into horror voyeurism is a stunning amalgam of split-screen effects, bloody birthday cakes, and a chilling score by frequent Hitchcock collaborator Bernard Herrmann.
