Sick of Myself
In this “unromantic” comedy from Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli, Signe and Thomas are in an unhealthy, competitive relationship that takes a vicious turn when Thomas breaks through as a contemporary artist. Suddenly overshadowed by her partner’s rise to fame, Signe takes extreme action in a desperate attempt to regain her status, creating a new persona that is hell-bent on attracting attention and sympathy.
Darkly funny and occasionally stomach-churning, Sick of Myself is a pointed satire of vanity and narcissicism in the social media age.
