The Room
The Room is a singular—and endlessly quotable—film experience written, directed by, and starring the mysterious Tommy Wiseau, a man of then-unknown origin and means. It centers on Johnny, played by Wiseau, a man who seemingly has it all, except that his beautiful but manipulative fiancée Lisa is trying to seduce his best friend Mark and doing her best to tarnish his reputation. The plot thickens when a local orphan named Denny seeks Johnny’s help after he gets into hot water with a local drug dealer.
Enjoy framed pictures of spoons as set dressing, inexplicable tracking shots of the Golden Gate Bridge, men playing football in tuxedos, extravagant green screen work, and the most idiosyncratic dialogue known to man—The Room is not to be missed!

“Through a film as unvarnished and florid as an adolescent’s diary, Wiseau offers himself up to the audience as few have the courage to do. He may get ridiculed in return, but deep down, in our most confused and humbling and vulnerable moments, isn’t there a Tommy Wiseau in all of us?” (Scott Tobias, AV Club)
