Pure Blood (Pura sangre)

A person with long white hair sits in bed holding a document under a magnifying lamp

A wealthy elderly man resorts to stealing blood to survive his illness. Starring Carlos Mayolo, the film follows the sick man’s employees as they hunt and haunt the town, which lives in fear of a vampire. The story explores local anxieties and phobias, engaging with the vampire myth while reflecting on the sinister and the macabre. Pura Sangre also offers a critique of class divisions in Colombian society and the exploitation of others by those in power.
