Pride and Prejudice is a story of love and life among the landed English gentry during the Georgian era. Mr. Bennet is a gentleman living in Hertfordshire with his overbearing wife and five unmarried daughters. If he dies their house will be inherited by a distant cousin whom they have never met, so the family's future happiness and security is dependent on the daughters making good marriages.

When Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) meets the handsome Mr. Darcy (Matthew MacFadyen), she believes he is the last man on earth she could ever marry. But as their lives become intertwined in an unexpected adventure, she finds herself captivated by the very person she swore to loathe for all eternity. Based on the beloved masterpiece by Jane Austen, this 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice — celebrating its 20th anniversary year — is a classic tale of love and misunderstanding that sparkles with romance, wit and emotional force.

The film will be introduced David Faulkner, Walter C. Teagle Director of First-Year Writing Seminars at the John S. Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines.
