Oppenheimer

scene from the film OPPENHEIMER

Join Jed Sparks, Donlon Hall faculty-in-residence, for a special screening of Oppenheimer and commentary on science advocacy and what scientists’ role should be in influencing policy.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it. Cillian Murphy stars as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist that is credited with developing the atomic bomb and changing the course of history. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Free admission and free popcorn! This event is sponsored by Faculty Living-Learning Programs as part of the “North Campus Goes to the Movies” film series.

About "North Campus Goes to the Movies"

This spring, Cornell Cinema is pleased to partner with the Faculty-in-Residence Program on a series of film screenings that highlight a variety of themes. All events are free and open to the public and will feature commentary by faculty from the North Campus FIR program.

The Faculty-in-Residence (FIR) program was established in 1980 to enhance the personal growth and development of students and to nurture their intellectual interest through informal interactions with members of the faculty.
