Week Ahead Features Visit of Oscar-nominated Cornell Alum

Don't miss our Friday screening of THE KITCHEN, featuring a Q&A with writer-director Andrea Berloff '95 (pictured with Haddish and McCarthy)! Starring Elizabeth Moss, Tiffany Haddish, and Melissa McCarthy, the film takes place in 1978, when the mobster husbands of three Hell's Kitchen housewives are sent to prison by the FBI and the ladies are left to run the racket themselves. Berloff was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Straight Outta Compton, and also wrote the screenplay for Oliver Stone's World Trade Center. Get your advance tickets now!

Monday at 7pm, catch a FREE screening of NOT OK—a short documentary about the Un-Glacier tours offered in Iceland highlighting climate change, offered in conjunction with anthropologists Cymene Howe & Dominic Boyer's public lecture at the Society for the Humanities on Wednesday, November 13.

Tuesday night, we continue our Cinematic Cities series with Charles Burnett's portrait of Los Angeles' Watts neighborhood, KILLER OF SHEEP, featuring an intro by Cecelia Lawless and Patty Keller. It's one of the seminal works in the LA Rebellion scene, and a low-budget masterwork. The following night, Wednesday, we wrap up our semester-long Human Flow series with the observational TASTE OF CEMENT, a documentary about the Syrian exiles working on construction sites in Beirut, Lebanon. Confined to the building site, the Syrian construction workers emerge from the underground barracks where they sleep to work on a skyscraper throughout the day. The film will be introduced by Mary Woods, an emeritus professor of architecture.

On Thursday and Saturday, we screen HUSTLERS, the Scorsese-influenced tale of Manhattan strippers fleecing the Wall Street goons who caused the 2008 financial crisis. It features some gravity-defying acrobatics by the always-incredible Jennifer Lopez! These screenings are in place of our previously scheduled shows of ONCE UPON A TIME IN...HOLLYWOOD, which, due to forces beyond our control, had to be postponed. We hope to screen it in December, and will have an update when everything is confirmed! For now, enjoy HUSTLERS and its mostly-true tale of ladies turning the tables on The Man.

Hot Tip: Did you know you can skip the line at the Box Office?? It's true! And you don't need our All-Access Pass to do it (but hey, free movies for one low price ain't a bad thing either!)—we offer advance tickets online at CornellCinemaTickets.com for the exact same price as in person, no fees! If you plan on coming to one of our screenings, buy a ticket online, and either print out your confirmation or put it on your phone. Then just walk straight to our usher and they'll scan your ticket!  Easy.
