Ways To View Films While Cornell Cinema Takes a Break

Cornell Cinema extends a heartfelt thank you for joining us during this challenging semester, as we experimented with what we could do online! We sold out almost every Virtual Cinema “screening” we offered, which was a truly wonderful surprise for us. Everyone who "attended" our Virtual Cinema screenings received a survey link earlier this week—if you viewed some of our films this semester and have not already completed the survey, we’d greatly appreciate your feedback. It’ll help us immensely in planning for the Spring!

For those who’d like to keep watching movies over the winter break, we’ve got some great news! Our friends at the curated streaming service MUBI have launched a brand new student membership. Available to all students, no matter what they’re studying. You can enjoy hundreds of incredible hand-picked films for only $6.99 a month. Sign up for a free 30 day trial and start exploring at mubi.com/student.

And finally, if you have a Cornell NetID, you can always check out Cornell University Library’s free streaming offerings. If you need a few suggestions to get you started, check out Marlon Riggs’ Black Is…Black Ain’t, or the downtown theatre piece Dead End Kids: A Story of Nuclear Power, featuring a score by David Byrne and Philip Glass! Plus there’s just a ton of films to watch for free on Kanopy with your CUID, including a healthy portion of the Criterion Collection: cornell.kanopy.com

Cornell Cinema wishes all our viewers a safe and happy break. We’ll be back in February 2021!
