Marcello Mio

A person in a black tuxedo with a boutonnière stands waist-deep in Rome’s Trevi Fountain, gazing upward. The illuminated Baroque sculptures and cascading water behind them create a dramatic contrast with the formal attire.

Actress Chiara Mastroianni is the real-life daughter of Marcello Mastroianni (La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2) and Catherine Deneuve (Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Belle de Jour). During a difficult period in her life, she decides to take on a new identity as her extremely famous father. She goes by the name of Marcello, dresses like him and asks to now be considered an actor, not an actress. The people around her believe this to be a temporary joke, but Chiara is determined not to give up her new identity…

Featuring cameos by countless greats from French film history, Honoré’s delightful gender-bending, meta-comedy explores the challenges of living up to the legacies of our parents.
