Leonor Will Never Die

When a television set falls from a window and hits her in the head, aging film director Leonor Reyes suddenly finds herself immersed in one of her unfinished screenplays: an action-packed drama in which she must defend the beloved characters from a slew of violent gang members. Somewhere in her coma-induced fantasy, Leonor emerges as the hero of her own story, reliving in the process the greatest action scenes that sprung from the depths of her imagination.

Director Martika Ramirez Escobar’s debut feature is a witty, inventive, action-packed homage to Filipino action films of the 1970s and 1980s. The New York Times describes Leonor Will Never Die as “Wonderfully unclassifiable…a heartfelt, zany tribute to the magic of movies and the power of love.”
