The Graduates

A girl in a blue sweater and a boy in a tan shirt walking side by side.

Genevieve is getting ready to graduate high school a year after her boyfriend, Tyler, dies from gun violence. As she struggles to push herself forward, a connection with Tyler's best friend, Ben, pulls her back to reality, but their relationship takes a turn as their grief begins to resurface.

Meanwhile, Tyler's father, John, finds himself losing composure as his son's class moves past the tragic event that took his son’s life. As the three of them navigate how to come to terms with their loss, they find hope in each other and the community that surrounds them.

The Graduates is a powerful and sharply introspective debut feature from Hannah Peterson that offers a lens on the aftermath of tragedy and a generation of students for whom the threat of gun violence at school is an ever-present reality.
