Ghost in the Shell
In the year 2029, the barriers of our world have been broken down by the net and by cybernetics, but this brings new vulnerability to humans in the form of brain-hacking. A female cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Susanagi, and the Internal Bureau of Investigation are hot on the trail of "The Puppet Master," a mysterious and threatening computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts and stealing their memories.
Together with her fellow agents from Section 9, Kusanagi embarks on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity. But Kusanagi's pursuit of the criminal hacker raises complex questions about her own existence and the boundary between technology and humanity: what does it mean to be alive?
Based on the comic book by Masamune Shirow, director Mamoru Oshii's award-winning cyber-tech thriller presents a dazzling vision of a dystopian future and has established itself as one of the leading Japanese animated films of all time.
