Evil Dead II

Evil Dead II, mind you, is not a sequel.  It is a remake, or, perhaps we should say, a redo.  And it is glorious.  Building on the innovative foundation of the Evil Dead, director Sam Raimi races the camera through the ur-horror setting like a spirit cut wild on moonshine and blood, diving and crashing into every x,y, and z axis imaginable.

Lead actor Bruce Campbell assaults himself with vigor, and attacks others with over-the-top machismo. One of the ultimate in-the-know schlock fests of all times: a hilarious – and sufficiently gross – romp through gore and stupidity.
