Clueless: New Student Movie Night!

Two people stand in a room with mail slots; one holds a binder while the other holds a rose

Cornell Cinema is delighted to welcome new Cornell students for a special Orientation Week screening of Clueless (1995)!

Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai a makeover. When Tai becomes more popular than she is, Cher realizes that her disapproving ex-stepbrother was right about how misguided she was — and falls for him.

Directed by Amy Heckerling, this playful adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma has continued to charm audiences with its fabulous fashions, cheeky dialogue, and quintessential high school drama.

Free admission! This event is open to Cornell students only and offered in partnership with the Tatkon Center for New Students as part of Orientation Week 2025.

Before the film, you can enjoy a sneak preview of films and series on offer this fall, participate in a friendly movie trivia competition, and learn more about how you can get involved with the cinema during your time at Cornell. Free popcorn will be provided, and we’ll be raffling off prizes like movie tickets, All-Access Passes, and Cornell Cinema swag. We can’t wait to see you there!
