Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with Dominique Thorne ‘19

Cornell Cinema is delighted to partner with Department of Performing & Media Arts to welcome Cornell alum Dominique Thorne ‘19 for a special screening of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).

In this much anticipated follow-up to Marvel Studio’s Black Panther, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

Following breakout roles in Barry Jenkins' If Beale Street Could Talk and Shaka King's Judas and the Black Messiah, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and student at MIT who reserve engineers a powerful suit like Iron Man's and becomes a superhero herself. This impactful character introduction launched Thorne into the titular role of the Marvel series Ironheart, which premiered on Disney+ in 2025.

Dominique Thorne ‘19 is the 2026 Heermans-McCalmon Distinguished Guest Artist in the Department of Performing & Media Arts and will join us at Cornell Cinema to introduce the film.
