From acclaimed German-Turkish director Fatih Akin comes a film that tackles the still controversial subject of the 1915 mass murder by the Ottomans of the minority Armenian population. The epic film follows a young man who survives the genocide, but loses his family, speech and faith. Years later, when he learns that his twin daughters may still be alive, he goes on a quest to find them, a journey that takes him from the Mesopotamian deserts and Havana to the barren and desolate prairies of North Dakota. “The Cut…is a forceful, watchable, strongly presented picture and a courageous, honest gesture from Fatih Akin.” (The Guardian) We will be showing the Armenian language dub, which was made under Akin’s supervision (the film was originally shot in English).
