summer 2007 series

Three stand-outs in the world of American independent cinema will be screened this summer. First up is Puccini for Beginners, from the director of the popular The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. It's a screwball comedy for the 21st Century, following Allegra, an opera-loving lesbian novelist on the rebound. Black Snake Moan is the sophomore effort of Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer, starring two of our favorites, Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci, in a bluesy, pulpy tale of redemption. Our summer season winds down with the eccentric little comedy, The Guatemalan Handshake, starring indie music icons Will Oldham and Cory McAbee (The Billy Nayer Show). With oddball charm to spare, this specialty item will be presented in a 35mm Cinemascope print, which is very unusual indeed for an independent film.
