Inspired by Jennifer Fox's documentary Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman, “a memoir, feminist manifesto & examination of Global Women” (NY Times), Cornell Cinema has assembled a number of feature-length narrative and documentary films from around the world that address in greater depth a variety of topics touched upon in Flying. Fox traveled to many different countries while making her six-hour tour de force, which includes intimate conversations with women in Cambodia, France, India, Pakistan, Russia and South Africa, discussing common experiences of modern female life on issues such as love, socialization, marriage, work, childrearing, aging, violence, spirituality, death, and politics. Jennifer Fox, an award-winning director (Beirut: The Last Home Movie, An American Love Story) and executive producer (Love & Diane, Project Ten: Real Stories from a Free South Africa), will join us at the conclusion of Flying on February 19.
Don't miss the opportunity to hear her discuss her travels and how they helped her define her own choices and future, and do your own globetrotting to learn about women's lives around the world with Cornell Cinema's International Women series, which is cosponsored with the Cornell Women's Resource Center, FGSS and ISPB.
