Cornell Cinema will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Janus Films, a world-renowned distribution company with an expansive collection of classic art cinema works, throughout the spring semester. Janus Films opened American viewers' eyes to the pleasures of Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini, and François Truffaut at the height of their artistic powers.

As part of the celebration, Cornell Cinema will be raffling off the extraordinary DVD box set Essential Art House: 50 Years of Janus Films, featuring fifty classic films on DVD and a lavishly illustrated 240-page hardcover book that tells the story of Janus Films through an essay by film historian Peter Cowie, a tribute from Martin Scorsese, and notes on each of the fifty films.
