French cinematic collaborators Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro were self-taught cinéastes with a handful of shorts under their belt when they made their stylish dystopian debut Delicatessen. They scored an international hit with The City of Lost Children, followed in a few years by a solo Jeunet directing France’s biggest international hit, Amélie. Cornell Cinema’s retrospective includes a new restoration of Delicatessen, a Valentine’s Day screening of Amélie, and 35mm screenings of The City of Lost Children and Micmacs!
