featuring two FREE screenings with filmmakers in person and via Skype!
Cornell Cinema teams up with LGBT Studies to present this selection of films, two of which will be presented by the filmmakers and be offered free of charge! Two of the films go back in time to explore LGBT lives: in The Danish Girl, the life of real transgender pioneer Lili Wegener in 1920s Denmark; and in Carol, the fictional lives of lesbian lovers in 1950s Manhattan. Filmmaker Madsen Minax will present his documentary Riot Acts that represents the multi-faceted lives of transgender and gender variant musicians; and Silas Howard, a visiting professor in the Dept of Performing & Media Arts, will present an episode he directed for the popular television series Transparent and discuss his experiences on that set and as a trans filmmaker via Skype. Cosponsored with the LGBT Resource Center and FGSS.
