Orientation Week

Cornell Cinema is considered one of the best campus film exhibition programs in the country, and for five days in August, all new Cornell students are invited to sample its varied offerings for free while basking in the glow of the brand new DCP (Digital Cinema Package) system projected on a new screen (30% bigger), amid new red velvet stage curtains in Willard Straight Theatre! Screenings will include timeless classics Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Citizen Kane, as well as recent cinematic treats: From Up On Poppy Hill, The Great Gatsby, and Star Trek Into Darkness. A special Orientation to Cornell Cinema will take place on Tuesday, August 27, with movie trailers, short films, free popcorn, and door prizes, all hosted by Cornell Cinema Director Mary Fessenden. Additionally, everyone (both Cornell and community members) can enjoy Dr. Strangelove and Lawrence of Arabia for a mere $3 on Sunday, September 1. Newcomers and veterans alike are encouraged to see truly fabulous films in a classic movie theatre outfitted with state of the art trappings. Thursday’s screenings are free to all CU students and are sponsored by the Cornell Welcome Weekend Committee. Regular undergraduate student prices are just $5.50, or $25 for the Cornell Cinema Six Pass. Tickets and passes can be purchased at the box office in the evenings (cash, check, and all major credit cards), at the Willard Straight Hall Resource Center between 11am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, or online at CornellCinemaTickets.com for special event tickets and Six Passes.
