What better way to show off Cornell Cinema’s new DCP (Digital Cinema Package) projection than with a few Kubrick classics? The series includes a stunning 4K restoration of Dr. Strangelove, the best the film has ever looked; belatedly celebrates the 50th anniversary of Lolita, based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov, most of which was written while Nabokov was a professor at Cornell; and revisits the consummate contemporary horror flick and cult classic, The Shining. The cherry on top: the Ithaca premiere of the highly entertaining documentary Room 237, which explores five of the outlandish theories behind the meaning of The Shining.
