Ahmad, a former Pakistani rock star, ekes out a living selling coffee and donuts from his pushcart in midtown Manhattan. For extra income he also sells bootleg porn DVDs, saving up his money so he can afford to provide for his estranged son. Ahmad endures his harsh and often humiliating life with stoic dignity until two people offer him hope for a better future. One is a young Spanish woman who works in a nearby newspaper kiosk, the other a wealthy Pakistani fan from his rock star days. A beautifully observed portrait of a man desperately hanging on to his dreams in the midst of a rarely depicted community of New York City. "Among the most striking American independent movies of the past year." (NY Times), the film was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards: Best First Feature, Best Male Lead and Best Cinematography. Introduced by Logan Hill, contributing editor at New York Magazine.
