Young Augusten is living a typical middle-class life with his alcoholic father and bi-polar mother. When his parents divorce, he goes to live with Dr. Finch, his mother's psychiatrist, and Finch's eccentric extended family. He finds himself in a household where no one believes in doing dishes and the Christmas tree has been dying in the living room for two years. Augusten tries to cope with his new unorthodox surroundings as he nurses his dreams of becoming a poet. A humorous and poignant look at the troubled adolescence of real-life writer Augusten Burroughs. more at sonypictures.com/movies/runningwithscissors
