The Triplets of Belleville

directed by Sylvain Chomet

Thursday is one of our popular summer terrace screenings!
Includes cash bar and snacks!

Frog-leg popsicles. Bicycle-powered movie projectors. A cabaret trio who rustle newspapers and pluck refrigerator wire for backup. It sounds like Björk having a daydream, but it's actually French director Sylvain Chomet's acclaimed animated masterpiece, a funky tale about an abducted Tour de France contestant and how his plucky grandmother and indomitable dog track him down and set him free. Belleville itself, a dizzying hybrid of Paris and New York that is full of graphic one-liners and hidden, hilarious details, is the fabulous setting for this "animated rapture from sweet start to enthralling finish line." (Film Comment) Video projection on 6/28; 35mm on 7/1.
