Hot Fuzz

directed by Edgar Wright

with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent

Hard-boiled London bobby Nicholas Angel is a good cop—really, really, really good. In fact, his arrest record is 400% higher than anyone else at Scotland Yard, and to keep their average to a respectable British level his supervisors promote him to Sergeant in the sleepy village of Sandford in the West Country. With his new partner, an inept action film fan (Frost), he moves to clean up the spotless town. Or is there something rotten in Sandford? Cheerfully taking on the Hollywood buddy-cop genre of such classics as Bad Boys II, Point Break, Lethal Weapon and anything with "Bruckheimer" attached to it, the guys who made the brilliant rom-zom-com Shaun of the Dead have created "everything an action-comedy should be. It achieves through parody what most films in the genre can't accomplish straight." (The Onion A.V. Club) 35mm Cinemascope.
