A thrilling combination of ethnography and concert film, Jasmine Dellal's
celebration of tzigane music follows the 2001 U.S. "Gypsy Caravan" tour,
which showcased five bands from four countries. The film was shot, in part,
by legendary documentarian Albert Maysles, and alternates between live performances
and visits to the musicians' homelands in India, Romania, Macedonia and
Spain. Featuring music by Taraf de Haädouks; Maharaja; Fanfare Ciocarlia,
Antonio El Pipa Flamenco Ensemble; and Esma Redzepova & Ensemble Teodosievski,
Gypsy Caravan is "The Buena Vista Social Club
