The Little Hours
director:
Jeff Baena
cast:
Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza

Alison Brie, Kate Micucci and Aubrey Plaza play a trio of bawdy nuns dealing with repressed convent life in this exceedingly profane (both with regards to religion and language) comedy. Writer/director Jeff Baena fleshes out tales from Giovanni Boccaccio’s 1353 work of short stories The Decameron with an all-star cast of comedians, which also includes Dave Franco, Nick Offerman and Fred Armisen. The movie offers a smorgasbord of sins and misdeeds, but also a resonant message, and “finds humor not just in broad shtick but also the relatable frustrations of these cooped-up young women, many forced into holy responsibility because they had no other options” (A.V. Club).
