Joon-ho Bong

Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt

After the world’s governments launch an experimental substance into the atmosphere to combat global warming, the plan backfires when the earth is plunged into an ice age. The last surviving members of humanity endlessly circle the globe in a 1,001-car train known as Snowpiercer, where a disparate class system separates the wealthy elite at the front from the lower class at the rear. Tired of the poor living conditions, a rebel, Curtis (Chris Evans), leads a revolution against the oppressive forces ruling the train. As he works his way forward from car to car, a clearer picture of life on the train develops, revealing its rigidly structured organization and untold secrets of the horrifying conditions on board. While staying a true science-fiction film, Bong’s film examines economic class systems “…while being an inventive and exciting action film along the way.” Snowpiercer is “…a visionary, thrilling work…a crystallization of Bong's status as one of our most exciting filmmakers…” (Oliver Lyttelton, Indiewire)
