Painstakingly restored by the George Eastman House when missing footage was found in Prague, several years ago, The Lost World, praised by Leonard Maltin as “the granddaddy of all prehistoric monster movies,” was hailed as the greatest sensation ever filmed when it opened in New York in 1925. Basing his film on an adventure story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, special-effects filmmaker Willis O’Brien (King Kong) created an amazingly real illusion of dinosaurs loose in modern-day London. Recommended for ages 7+
