The Puffy Chair

Directed by: Jay Duplass

With Mark Duplass, Kathryn Aselton, Rhett Wilkins

A low budget gem that won over audiences at Sundance and took the Audience Award at South by Southwest, The Puffy Chair is a road movie about Josh, a 20-something failed NYC indie rocker; Emily, his girlfriend; and Brett, his slacker brother, as they attempt to deliver a ratty pink armchair Josh won on eBay -- a replica of the one in his childhood living room -- to his father in Maryland. The trip exposes, comically and painfully, the strengths and the strains of Josh and Emily's relationship, and by the end this scrappy film has become a surprisingly poignant work. "It's all so goddamn realistic and reminiscent of real-life love (and how often does that happen onscreen?) that The Puffy Chair would be hell to watch if it weren't so funny."
