Hathaway plays a reluctant apprentice in the snarky world of fashion, where it's definitely not how you feel but how you look. As an aspiring journalist for whom leather is something to be worn only on one's feet and shopping at Banana Republic is "trading up," Andy Sachs finds herself woefully out of her league when she signs on as the assistant to legendary Runway editor Miranda Priestly. Based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger '99 (who worked for Anna Wintour at Vogue for a short time but hey, no one's naming names), the film is "bright and crisp and funny... turns dish into art," (The New Yorker) and features Streep as the steely fashion-maven boss from hell. Devil "feels authentic, from its glossy look to the specific and sometimes curious behavior of the secondary and tertiary characters. To watch it is like being entertained while getting an anthropological crash course." (San Francisco Chronicle) More at devilwearspradamovie.com
