Metropolis is Fritz Lang's legendary dystopian epic about life and revolution in a futuristic city. The sheltered son of a powerful industrial ruler falls in love with a labor organizer and discovers how the other half lives. The extraordinary Brigitte Helm plays dual roles as good girl and Evil Robot. With enormous sets and a reported 30,000 extras (11,000 of whom shaved their heads), Metropolis was one of the most lavish productions of the silent era. It's the film that launched the Alloy's career accompanying silent films, offering the perfect vehicle for the group's exotic combination of drums, gongs, chimes and passionate melody. This astonishing new 35mm print was restored by the Munich Film Archive, and is as close to the original release print as possible, making it over one third longer than the previous "Moroder" version. It has been digitally remastered from all surviving material with the original 60-piece orchestral score by Gottfried Huppertz.
